Research Interests

I am currently interested in understanding how lower limb prosthetic and exoskeletal devices interact with human physiology. Most recently I have begun exploring implications of how hip assistance in both the sagittal and frontal plane can influence balance. My general topic areas of interest include: Lower limb prostheses Biomechanics of persons with lower limb amputation Exoskeletons Rehabilitation

Biography

I was born and raised in Hampton Bays, NY, on the east end of Long Island. I completed my Sc.B. in Biomedical Engineering at Brown University in 2015. Afterwards I worked for two years as a research engineer in the Research & Development Service in the Department of Rehabilitation at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. I am a huge fan of hiking and a definite foodie.

Thesis Project Title
Bioinspired wearable robotics for robust improvement of dynamic balance during locomotion
Thesis Project Description

My tentative thesis project will involve exploring, both through human studies and simulation, the implications of both sagittal and frontal plane hip exoskeletons on balance. To better link an understanding of neurological and mechanical aspects of balance, ultrasound will be used to investigate muscle-level changes induced by exoskeleton use.
