Shelley Gooden received her bachelor’s degree in 2017 from Wright State University and master’s degree in 2019 from The Ohio State University, both in Biomedical Engineering. She is currently a bioengineering doctoral candidate in the Cardiovascular Fluid Mechanics Laboratory at Georgia Institute of Technology. Her work primarily focuses on predicting hemodynamic outcomes of transcatheter edge-to-edge mitral repair using echocardiography and volumetric flow measurements of mitral valves assessed in a custom in vitro left-heart simulator. Shelley has published in both clinical and bioengineering journals and has given oral and poster presentations at national and international conferences. She received the best poster award at the International Conference on Biomedical Engineering in 2019 and is an awardee of the COVID-19 Disruption Fund from Higher Education Emergency Relief Funding III. Shelley also values engaging in K-12 outreach activities. Outside of work, she enjoys watching movies, sewing, and practicing Chinese calligraphy.
