I received my Bachelor of Science degree (Summa cum laude) in Biomedical Engineering from Universidad de los Andes in Bogotá, Colombia in 2015. While undergraduate I conducted research on the biomaterials field using decellularized porcine Small Intestinal Submucosa (SIS). I also participated in the Vanderbilt International Summer Program (VISP) under the direction of Dr. Pampee Young. In August 2015, I joined the lab of Dr. Robert Guldberg as a Ph.D student in Bioengineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology.
My thesis focuses on using natural and synthetic biomaterials to treat joint disorders such as ligament ruptures and osteoarthritis.
